About me

Born and raised in the small-town Karjaa close to Helsinki, I always enjoyed being near the sea and close to the capital. I am educated in electronics at Västra Nyland yrkesskola (vocational school) and computer science at Arcada Polytechnic (Bachelors degree). During my studies at Arcada I helped out as a research assistant by developing and documenting teaching-material about microcontrollers for an upcoming class in the school. As my degree thesis I developed a weatherstation as part of research performed by Arcada.

After graduating from Arcada in 2004 I got an opportunity to work as a teacher in at the vocational school Åbolands Yrkesinstitut in Parainen. My main subjects were electronics, automation and PLC programming. Working with teenagers is very challenging but also rewarding and it taught me a lot about myself. It also involves a lot of planning and studying (especially as a new teacher). I worked two years at ÅY before me and my fiancé decided to make one of our dreams come true by travelling and working in New Zealand. As there is an age-limit of 30 for the one-year work-visa, last autumn we decided that it's either now or never. As we wanted to see as much of the country and learn as much of the culture as possible, we picked up mainly short-term work for example at building sites. New Zealand is probably one of the most beautiful countries in the world and I recommend anyone with a taste of adventure to book your ticket. Ever since I was a kid I've been helping out on my fathers farm and by being a volunteer fire fighter I've learned a lot about teamwork and working in stressful situations.
